Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of attending an assembly at Flowery Elementary School.  While I have attended a number of assemblies in the district, this particular event was very significant in that it was a celebration of the first class of Flowery Dual Immersion students graduating from Sonoma Valley High School.  The proud seniors sat in the back of the assembly, singing along with the kinder students, smiling and linking arms – they still remembered the songs they sang as 6 and 7 year olds.  Towards the end of the assembly, each senior was called forward by a retired 5th grade teacher from Flowery; each to be acknowledged individually, with their photo from Flowery School displayed on the screen. Following the assembly, the seniors visited classrooms, sharing the power of their knowledge in being bilingual, biliterate and bicultural. It was an amazing day! Congratulations, Flowery School.
