Today, the students and staff of El Verano Elementary received a special treat from the Peresson Quartet (see details below).  Nigel’s dad, Marc Armstrong, lives in Sonoma and coordinated this event with district music teacher, Bob Gossett.  The Quartet was briefly travelling through Sonoma and was kind enough to perform for our students.

The Peresson Quartet is comprised of Nigel Armstrong, violin, Luanne Homzy, violin, Min-Kyung Sung, viola, and Julian Schwarz, cello. The Peresson Quartet takes its name from an American maker of string instruments and will be competing in the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in May.  Before they leave for Osaka, they will have a concert at Jacuzzi Family Vineyards on Friday evening, May 13th, sponsored by the Sonoma Classical Music Society.

I spoke to some staff members at El Verano this afternoon and they were simply moved to tears by the incredible performance.  The students were mesmerized and loved asking the musicians questions! This is a great example of our community giving back to our schools in the most heartfelt way.  Many thanks to Marc, Bob, the El Verano Staff and the amazing musicians for making this all happen.
