During these past weeks I have had the opportunity to meet with a number of community members and organizations in a variety of different venues.  After attending the Crab Feed at Cline Winery (thank you Fred and Nancy!), The Sweetheart Auction at the Boys and Girls Club, The SCL Boys Basketball Championship (even though we did not end up on top, our boys and their coach, Casey Rogina, should be proud!), the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance Board Meeting, The Programs Committee at the Boys and Girls Club The Sonoma Valley Fund Retreat, Teacher Support Network Board Members and meeting with Congressman Thompson and Supervisor Valerie Brown, I once again realize how incredibly fortunate we are to live in this town.  There is nothing but true determination at every level to make our school district the very best it can be (world class?? You bet!) and we have a community which is ready to stand up and make this happen.  As a school district, we can only thrive when we work in close partnership with our community.  This partnership continues and is clearly demonstrated as we move forward with the search for a visionary leader to take over the helm at Sonoma Valley High School when current Principal Micaela Philpot retires. Without community members being present on the interview panels, we would lose a valuable perspective.

I continue to be energized by all of our community stakeholders, as they continually remind me of the most important job we have in this district and that is to educate students. I look forward to many opportunities to work collaboratively at every level of our organization.

Thank you, Sonoma Valley!
